My students are absolutely amazing. They amaze me daily at what they are capable to learn in our situation. Our school was flooded in Hurricane Harvey and we have been housed at a local church in town.
I see multiple math groups a day on multiple different learning levels.
The students are always eager to come work hard for me daily and always brighten my day. The students are just lacking the tools and games required to learn and grow in our math groups because our school was flooded in Hurricane Harvey!
My Project
My students need this bin shelf and all these math tools because all of our shevling units and most of our math tools were damaged by flood water in Huuricane Harvey. Our town was flooded for close to 5 days and our school took a big hit as well.
Our math tools and shelving units were not ready for the flood waters of Hurricane Harvey.
Water collected in the room where my classroom was in our building for multiple days after the storm had passed.
These children need their math tools back. Each game or tool I have requested in this project serves a purpose in our classroom setting. I teacher multiple children throughout the day in a small group setting. I see lots of kids daily and they are all on different levels. I need these math tools to make learning fun and different for each group I meet with.
We will use the house counting blocks to build and decompose numbers. We will need the ten frame rug to have real word examples of numbers. The students will love the magenetic boards to display their work on and use the magnets to manipulate on the boards with. Each tool will bring life to math in our classroom. The magnetic ten frames will give my students the chance to represent real numbers with real objects and grasp a clear understanding of each number. I am so excited to have this chance to build back my math tool box for my amazing students!
