My Students
Picture a class of 28 highly motivated third graders, interested in learning about almost everything. With this enthusiasm, the sky's the limit! But, we only have 3 computers in our class to share. Help us reach our potential and double our access to the latest technology.
We are a New York City public school in one of the most diverse boroughs in the country, the borough of Queens.
We speak many languages and represent many cultures. That diversity is our wealth and we have been very proud of a recent report saying we have made excellent student progress. Because we have made that progress, we need the best resources to continue that excellent trend. The laptops we are requesting fit right in with our school community's high expectations as we prepare our students for the 21st century. In order for our students to benefit from one another they need to be able to collaborate in a meaningful way, but we are short on time. The students want to research, produce and share their work, so our request for this powerful resource is crucial to achieve our goal.
My Project
Reading non-fiction and writing about non-fiction is a large part of the Common Core Learning Standards. Imagine, these 28 children deeply engaged in a topic they would love to learn more about and have the technology resources at their fingertips. Our school is about excellence and aspiration, and that requires the best materials and resources we can obtain for our children. With budget constraints we are forced to share just three computers.
Technology is the key to learning in the 21st Century and we are teaching 21st Century kids!
Help us to bring this amazing resource and double the number of computers in our classroom.
