This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am reaching out to ask for your support in helping our students reach their reading goals and foster a love of learning that will extend to all areas of their education.
At our school, we have a diverse group of students with varying reading levels and abilities.
We are working hard to provide a rich and supportive learning environment that meets the needs of every student, but there are some essential materials that we are in need of to help us reach our goals.
One area where we are hoping to make a significant improvement is in our reading resources. Many of our students do not have home libraries, which makes it challenging for them to continue practicing and growing their reading skills outside of school. To address this, I am hoping to establish a daily checkout system for students to borrow books and take them home to read.
Additionally, our students often listen to stories on their Chromebooks or iPads during independent reading time. Unfortunately, many of them lack properly working headphones, which makes it difficult for them to fully engage in these listening activities. Having functional, quality headphones will allow them to listen to stories clearly and help develop their comprehension and literacy skills.
Reading is a learned skill, and I want to give my students as many opportunities as possible to practice and improve. With your help, we can create an environment where they feel motivated, inspired, and equipped to succeed not only in reading, but across all academic areas.
