Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have a classroom of avid readers and I want to keep the reading momentum in full swing. As student interests vary from horror stories to biographies, I want to nurture their love of reading by providing books that are of interest to my students.

I am requesting high interest books that will continue to engage my students in the practice of reading for the remainder of the school year.

By providing my students books by their favorite authors and in their preferred genres they are more likely to finish books in class as well as continue reading at home. Graphic novels such as the series "One Piece" and "The Baby-Sitters Club" are popular amongst my students. Students have requested historical non-fiction books about World War I as well as biographies of well known historical figures.

Because of donors like you, my students can continue to build their literacy skills through the remaining months of the school year.
