This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The class is an Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) classroom, which provides educational services for children ages 3 to 5 with identified disabilities. The students are eager to learn, and ready to excel. They love playing interactive games on the computer. I want them to break all negative stereotypes regarding students with disabilities. Quote: "Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see." (Mark Twain)
Although the students have been diagnosed with a disability, it does not affect their ability!
The students live in a poverty stricken area and don't have access to the same materials as other schools. Being able to identify and understand children who are at-risk is critical if we are to support their growth and development. I am a firm believer that your environment should not dictate or limit the quality of education you receive. All children should be given the opportunity to receive an effective education that will foster awareness, independence, respect, and acceptance.
My Project
The Hot Dot reading pens will enable students the opportunity to learn to use new tools that will support their learning, while keeping them current with the new innovations of electronics.
Living in poverty should not limit what materials children have access to.
Technology in the classroom enables the use of more interactive educational tools, which allows for a dynamic learning experience that directly benefits students. Donations to this project will give the students an opportunity to have access to the ever-changing world of technology, while providing flexibility, supplementary, and adaptability to differentiated learning.
