Can you imagine being in a fourth grade classroom reading on a first grade level? Many of my students are faced with this challenge every day. They need interesting reading materials on their level to help improve their reading and self-esteem.
This is my fifth year teaching 4th graders.
I teach a full inclusion classroom in a high poverty school. My classroom is full of many different learning styles and different reading levels. The students in my classroom enjoy working together in cooperative learning groups exploring and creating ideas. However, they are faced with a challenge. Many of them are reading below reading level. There are only six students in a classroom of 25 that are reading on or above reading level.
We need the emergent readers kit and book stand, phonics tic-tac-toe and reading bingo to help increase reading and make it enjoyable for the students. The resources in reading will help change students’ lives and increase their love for reading. It will also increase their self-esteem and reduce inappropriate behaviors.
Please help my students become positive ecstatic readers.
They are struggling in the area of reading and I want them to be able to read on grade level in the near future. It will take time and patience to increase their knowledge in reading but with your help we can make a difference together.
