Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I work at Nuner Fine Arts Academy with 19 fun loving, respectful, spontaneous second graders. We work together in our classroom community to make each other better everyday. In our short time together this school year we have accepted each other’s differences and take time out to strengthen each other’s weaknesses.

The students are always willing to lend a helping hand.

They help with cleaning the classroom, cleaning behind others in the restroom or helping a fellow student or adult in need.

Although the group of students are at different learning levels, the all work hard to progress at their levels. Their passion to learn and achieve motivates me to go above and beyond for each student everyday.

My Project

I currently have a lot of books that are at levels that many of my students are unable to read. Those students want to read better so I need books for everyone. These new books will be a tremendous help for the class. Also every kid loves new items. I know they will increase in level by reading new books that will become their new favorites. Usually during reading centers my lower students struggle to focus on reading now they will be just as excited about independent reading as my on level students. Thank you so much for this opportunity!!
