My Students
Help us have fun while learning how to read! I want my Kindergarten students to enjoy learning how to read. However, we currently lack the resources that can make learning fun!
I am currently teaching Kindergarten to 19 children who are excited about learning.
They are very sweet and have a strong desire to learn. I come from a low socio-economic school that lacks support from some of the parents. When some of my students entered Kindergarten, they had never been to preschool and some had never been in an environment with children other than their siblings. Most of my students did not know any letters or numbers, could not write their name, and had never used glue or scissors.
It is very important for Kindergarteners to have hands-on materials to enrich their learning experience. Their attention spans are not meant to sit on a rug and listen to a lecture. The best way for Kindergarteners to learn is to have interaction with their subject and get involved. The children get so excited and are ready to learn when they have opportunities for hands-on activities.
My Project
I am asking for different reading centers that will enhance the learning of my wonderful students. These centers include a blends and digraph word building center, two sight word match games, a creating sight word sentences center, and baseline ruled newsprint paper to use to record the work.
My class gets so excited when we get to go to learning centers or play educational games. The children are pumped up and ready to learn when they have hands-on activities. However, the reason we do not have a lot of hands-on activities and interactive learning centers is because there is no funding. These resources will help students learn how to read while having fun. The skill levels range, so it would benefit every student, from my lowest to highest. It would be a “dream come true” for my students to have the opportunity to use these valuable resources.
When you help our classroom, you will be changing the lives of these wonderful children and countless others in the future.
You could truly make a difference and help these children build a strong foundation that leads them to success in the future. Please open your heart up to these children, so they can learn how to read. That is a gift that will stay with them forever!
