Our students are energetic, active learners. They attend a Title I school and their parents often struggle to buy supplies, uniforms, and provide lunch. The parents do try their best to send their children to school every day so they can get a proper education, meals, and exercise and play in a safe environment. The students try hard at everything they do, from in the classroom to on the playground, because they like school and feel safe at school. The teachers try equally as hard because we know they are our future and need dedicated educators who care about their success and well-being.
My Project
To help incorporate more science and social studies into my students' lives we regularly read books that relate to our unit of studies. In November, our social studies unit is families and the books "Froggy's Baby Sister" and "Clifford's Family" would be fun read alouds to incorporate. In January, we study healthy habits like going to the doctor, eating right and exercising. The "Froggy" series has many books related to exercising that I know my students would love.
It is also fun to read books about upcoming holidays like Halloween, Christmas, and Hannukkah.
The "Clifford," "Froggy," and "How Do Dinosaurs" series would make the read alouds fun but also relevant.
