This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My Kindergarten students are teamed up with a great class of Fifth Graders. They are Reading Buddies! So far they have met and read together and have done a STEM project. My students are so lucky to have mentors in their school who come and visit.
This project is to have them work together to follow simple steps to create a safari stuffed animal.
The students will work together to read, and communicate what needs to be done. The students will then have time to write about their experience. My students are learning to read and write so the help from their Fifth Grade Reading Buddies is immeasurable. It would be wonderful to have this project come to life. My students also will learn about their animal and it's habitat for science so the project will also extend there. Hopefully they will be able to inform their Reading Buddies on what they have learned about their animal at another visit.
