The students in my classroom are so hungry for real-life, scientific information!! Their interests are varied and their quest for knowledge is never-ending. Seymour Simon's books can provide such a window to the world - some worlds never visited or imagined but nevertheless exciting!!
My students are like most 4th graders everywhere.
They're inquisitive, eager to learn new things, intrigued by science, and interested in a myriad of subjects. We live in a rural area of central Pennsylvania. Many students have not been out of their small town. However, they are like kids everywhere - playing sports, playing instruments, siblings, only children and interested in everything!
My Project
These books will be an integral part of our science instruction. We are lucky enough to have doctoral students from a local university work with our students on a variety of science subjects. However, those subjects need to include some pre-teaching and vocabulary introduction. These resources (books) will enable me to use them as interactive read-alouds to introduce vocabulary and to introduce each topic. The students will directly benefit from this instruction and the follow-up science demonstrations/experiments.
I would hope that donors would remember that feeling of excitement over finding out incredible facts and interesting information!
