My classroom is comprised of 11 special and incredible students. Each child loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best varies. I incorporate a variety of learning strategies, small group work, and alternative seating to make sure each student's needs are being met! I want my classroom to feel comfortable and friendly so each child feels ready to learn!
While I have furniture and supplies in my classroom, there is something that is missing in order to help ensure my students succeed.

My Project
While the students have access to books in our classroom library, most are fiction texts. I want to bring in nonfiction texts to support our upcoming reading unit so my students can learn and enjoy learning about these nonfiction topics.
I choose interesting books that my students are interested in to help keep them engaged during reading workshop.
One goal is to give my students access to interesting nonfiction books so my students can learn to love reading. Some of my students have a hard time shopping for books when they are not interested in the books that are already in our library. Giving them access to topics they are interested in will help keep them engaged and learn to love reading.
