This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

It’s never too early to prepare for student success.

In my K–5 Resource Specialist Program (RSP) classroom, students receive specialized instruction in small groups to support their unique learning needs.

They work hard every day to build foundational reading and math skills, develop confidence, and meet their IEP goals.

Next year, I want to start strong with a fresh set of reading and math journals that will serve as daily tools for practice, reflection, and growth. These journals will help students organize their thinking, track progress over time, and build ownership of their learning in a structured and supportive way.

I’m requesting:

Spiral or bound reading response journals for comprehension, vocabulary, and phonics work

Math journals for number sense, problem-solving, and math vocabulary development

These journals will be used every day with students in grades K through 5, and they'll also serve as helpful documentation for progress monitoring and parent communication. With your support, my students can begin the year equipped, organized, and ready to shine.
