Ready to Learn on Day One!: Flexible Seating and Classroom Materials
Help me give my students an open learning environment starting at the beginning of the school year. I will use the wobble cushions and soft seats as a way for students to take control of their own learning.
My students are second graders who are ready to learn! This will be my first semester teaching. I have done a year of pre-teaching service at my school prior to accepting a full-time teaching position. I do not know my particular students yet, but from what I could tell walking around the 1st grade hall way this past year, they are eager to learn and have an abundance of energy.
My students come from a low economic area and do not always have the means to fund their learning.
I have witnessed over the past year what these students can accomplish. They jumped 5-10 reading levels, excelled at online reading and math assessment/lessons, and I have seen students become better writers developing voice in their work. My students are here to learn and excel, they just need the means to do so.
My Project
Flexible seating such as soft seats and wobble cushions will help my students choose their best environment to learn. These materials will be used during independent work. Students struggling with ADD and ADHD problems will be able to wiggle and move without the disruption to their learning or their peers' learning.
Classroom materials such as file folders and glue sticks will help me provide my students a interactive learning experience for projects and important foundation units.
Manipulative will help students with a "doing" learning style.
The items I have asked to be donated are items that will be used to mold my students into better learners. Giving them the power to learn with the tools necessary for them to achieve!
