Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are from a very impoverished area of Miami. The CORVID 19 pandemic has devastated my students lives and uprooted and displaced many. My students now have to pick up their breakfast and lunch at appointed times at a specific area while standing in long lines.
I can't say at this time that my students are energetic in spirit and ready to learn because the World as they knew it is in a different place.
One thing that I do know for sure about my students at this time is that they are ready to come back to school and rejoin their friends. My students are ready and eager to come back to school; however, adults are playing politics with their lives.
My Project
When we talk about books, we're speaking of a child's first love. My students love books and I would like to make sure they have enough books to share or check out to take home. When we are in class, my students are usually writing about what they've read and drawing illustrations to represent their writing. My hope is that they will continue writing and illustration in their journals after reading from their favorite book at home.
My students take ownership knowing that their handwriting is improving everyday and that they can actually read their sentences.
Their energetic enthusiasm for knowledge never ceases.
