My Project
I coach an academic team at my school called Battle of the Books. The Battle of the Books is a city wide competition for students in fourth through sixth grades. Each year Chicago Public School Librarians choose a list of newly published books for students.
The Battle of the Books books for this year are exciting, challenging, and include a wide variety of genres for all readers.
I am asking for copies of the books so that my students have an opportunity to participate. Each team reads and discusses the books throughout the school year. In the spring the Chicago Public schools "battle" in a city-wide competition. Schools compete against each other as students answer questions about the books in a game show style.
This is a great program that gets students reading and talking about books. It's fun and also encourages comprehension.
