This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students enjoy spending time using white boards for all sorts of activities. Whether it be writing letters or words, drawing pictures or writing sentences, they truly enjoy working with the white boards. But when they have no markers to write with, what are they to do?

I am blessed to work with an amazing group of Kindergartners.

I have 22 students who are full of life, and eager to show what they learn. They are discovering the wonderful world of reading and writing. Most of my students come from low-income families. Most of my students are English learners.

My Project

My students need writing practice magic boards. On these boards, my students will be able to practice their penmanship, as well as writing words and sentences. Picture this, a group of students have reviewed a set of letters and their sounds. What better way to check their understanding than to give them words for them to sound out and write. The children would be able to use their magic boards. They would write the words, and show me their response. This would be a quick and easy way to identify those students who are ready to move on and those who still need a little bit of extra help. My students need the magic boards. Not only would we be able to use them during our language arts block, but also during our math block. They could practice writing the numbers or composing the numbers. They could use them for problem-solving. They could be given a word problem, and they could show their response on a magic board.

These writing tools will enhance my students' learning.

They will be having fun while developing their skills from reading and writing to math. As their teacher, I will be able to use them as a quick assessment tool. It will help me identify those students who need that little bit of extra help.
