Help me give my students seating that will allow them to move their bodies and focus their minds on instruction at the same time because with safe seating, students will shine, while they get the wiggles out!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
With your help, I will be able to provide appropriate, comfortable seating for all learners! Flexible seating really does allow students to safely move, but maintain their focus and composure. I have been using flexible seating for over 10 years and unfortunately have had to get rid of most of it due to how popular they have been throughout the years.
Flexible seating is not just a trend, it is a way to finally offer an even playing field for busy bodied students that have equally busy minds!
With your help, this seating will last another 10 years plus and will be a permanent fixture in my classroom. As Maya Angelou famously said, "When you know better, you do better!" Flexible seating is just one of those teaching practices that we know works and it truly benefits the entire classroom community.
My goals for this new furniture is to allow students from K-4 a comfortable place to meet as a community when we are reflecting and giving feedback after engineering challenges. When students feel comfortable they are more willing to respond and listen. Environment can really dictate behavior at times and it is my job to make sure it is as cozy as possible.
