My students need seat sacks and pencil pouches to help create an organized environment. They provide individual storage space for every child and less time wasted gathering and putting away materials.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My 6th grade 12:1 classroom is full of unique personalities. Youthful, creative, funny, and dramatic, those are words to describe my students. These words demonstrate the ways my students express themselves; through origami, video games, and story-telling.
We are constructing an environment where life-long learning, reflection, and sharing takes place and is welcomed.
My students explore reading and writing together! Throughout the year we have continued to develop the ways in which we express ourselves that is enjoyable for everyone while still honoring our individuality, with mediums like art and music to share our experiences. As an ELA and Science teacher, we often work on projects that expand our worldview outside of our local Bronx community. We are a room full of young bright minds where every moment is an opportunity for learning.
My Project
My scholars seek to become organized, independent learners. Too much time is wasted on transitions where students walk to retrieve or put away their materials. Our goal for the seat sacks and pencil pouches is to help us locate the materials we need quickly and efficiently during transitions.
Some of the most important skills scholars in my self-contained classroom can learn are independence, organization, and responsibility.
My students know that I promote an environment where their learning and needs are supported. Seat sacks and pencil pouches will teach them to be organized and responsible learners! There will be room for notebooks, pencil pouches, planners, folders, and more!
