Imagine coming to work every day with a captive audience, ready and excited to learn the many things you have in store for them...this is a description of the students in my first grade class.
First grade is such an exciting time for students and parents.
Each day is a new day, full of exciting things to discover and learn. It is during this time in their lives that I want to capitalize on their eagerness and love for learning. Because I teach at a Title 1 school with a high poverty rate, it is my hope to provide them with experiences that will encourage them and instill in them the confidence and knowledge that anything is possible.
With each new school year comes a new set of possibilities and opportunities for my students. Education has changed so much over the years, that I am constantly looking for ways to keep my students motivated and engaged in their learning. During the Reading block, students are expected to participate in various learning stations to reinforce skills that have been taught and to connect their learning through authentic practice. By integrating the use of Amazon Fires and Listening Center books during this time, the possibilities would be endless. Students would have numerous apps and activities geared towards building their reading and literacy skills. In addition to this, the privacy partitions are a necessity when giving students an opportunity to demonstrate their learning with fidelity.
With your generous donation, you are playing a vital role in improving the quality of my 1st graders' educational experiences while giving them the opportunity to boost their achievement.
The addition of these materials to our classroom will help to foster independence and allow students to take ownership of their learning.
