My students are amazing 3, 4, and 5 year olds that reside in Fayette County, Indiana. The multi age, inclusive class that I teach is geared for children learning through hands-on, active learning. Due to the current health crisis with COVID-19, the school doors have closed and I have been forced to foster learning at home.
My students have such potential to become successful life long learners.
They demonstrate excitement and curiosity when it comes to learning in the classroom. I want the love of learning being developed at home too. l want my students playing with things they can create and build with, touch, and manipulate.
The majority of my students qualify for the program by meeting federal poverty guidelines. Many deal with food insecurity, poverty, and homelessness. Remote learning can be very overwhelming because it's something new for our little learners and their parents. In addition, they don't always have the necessary learning materials at home.
Despite the challenges they face everyday, my children want to learn and are excited about any new opportunities they are offered! Providing activities that allow children and their families to have fun while they learn at home will have the most success.
My Project
Please help give my students the materials they need for remote learning. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused my students to remain home and to social distance. They are cooped up at home with limited learning resources. This new "norm" may continue into the next school year. My students need hands-on learning materials at home.
I know my students will love these skill-building backpacks.
The activities and materials within will reinforce basic preschool skills and provide opportunities to explore intentional, focused learning at home. The backpacks include bears to sort and count, a ball for motor development, alphabet cards, and a book of nursery rhymes.
