My students need a half-moon classroom table and chairs for use during guided reading time. I will be better able to reach each child during reading instruction.
Help us learn to read! With so much going on in a busy kindergarten classroom, small guided reading groups can become very distracted during reading instruction. I will be better able to reach each student while teaching them to read and write at a table specifically built for this purpose.
My students attend a lab school on the campus of our local university.
We are a public school serving students in an urban school district. My students come from diverse backgrounds. Some come to my classroom with varying degrees of literacy experience. Some who are already reading and need to be challenged to those who are struggling to learn letters and sounds.
Regardless of their level of ability each and every child in my classroom loves to learn. Kindergarten students are an energetic group of children who deserve the best learning environment I can provide.
My Project
With this new classroom table and chairs I can provide equitable seating for all my students as they engage in various learning activities. From guided reading lessons, writer's workshop and learning games, I will be better able to reach my students while holding their attention during learning activities. Small group lessons will be more clearly defined if students have a designated place for these small group lessons.
Learning to read is the most important skill to acquire for school success.
Reading opens the door to learning and imagination. By giving to this project you will help me to help them become more engaged in their learning.
