This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My 9th - 12th grade students are highly motivated and learning to navigate the demands of the hectic high school years. I look for creative strategies and texts to supplement my Early Childhood Education curriculum and enrich their reading skills.
My students have lots of energy, need to know “why are we learning this,” and love real-world, hands-on activities.
Early Childhood Education students learn about nutrition and wellness, apparel and textiles, human growth and development, money management, smart design, explore careers, and develop workplace readiness skills that all graduates need to be successful in college or their career. The more resources I can provide them on this journey the better!
My Project
This project will provide a class set of The Pregnancy Project for us to read, develop questions and produce discussion and writings through our exploration of the text. Students will drop everything to read and engage with text which they aren't always able to do in their classes.
It is imperative that students engage actively in the reading process to develop as life long learners!
Students will have the chance during class time to read the novel, we will do both independent and group readings, and have a discussion. Students will be required to develop discussion questions and also complete some writing based on what they have read. These writings will make connections between the novel, their experiences, and the real world.
