Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are incredible with lots of love for each other. This is an ESL homeroom so it's a mixture of 25 Hispanic children, 1 Asian boy, and 1 African American girl. They balance each other and are more than willing to help each other reach their end of year 1st-grade goals.
My students are eager learners and have a desire to learn.
I am impressed with the drive these students have and do not want the motivation to disappear anytime soon.
My Project
Building a love for reading starts at a young age. The books currently in my library, my students have read over ten times. If a book is too hard, my students make up their own stories and share their stories with each other. I want to expose my students to more books that are within range of their reading skills. With leveled reading books, the students will not only build their confidence but their fluency and comprehension as well.
More books mean more reading!
My students have access to AR testing and love when they can see their 'flower' grow. With more books available, they can take more tests!
