This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My third graders are a great group of students who are driven to learn and grow each day in our classroom! They work hard in class to overcome any challenges that they face and they are ready to take on the world! My students mean the world to me and I want to give them the world!
My school is ethnically diverse with students from all corners of the globe.
Many of my students come from very low socioeconomic backgrounds.
My Project
My classroom is full of eager readers. Each of my students walks through the door to my classroom as a reader and my goal during my year with them is to assist them in becoming more proficient and fluent readers as they leave my classroom.
By giving my students the opportunity to practice reading skills in a hands on and collaborative way, I am not only giving them the skills to be better readers but be successful students.
My students have made great strides in becoming more fluent readers and need that extra push to help them grow from good to great. The materials in my project will help my students with skills that they need to master during our time together. The materials I have chosen are engaging and hands on, which gives my students the opportunity to collaborate with one another as well as work in small groups.
I know that through consistent practice of these reading skills in both small group and collaborative groups, my students will gain the skills to be both confident and successful readers in third grade and beyond!
