My project needs 5 sets of books for my entire class of 25 students, including 'Matilda' by Rooald Dahl. Also requested is 'Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day: Literature Unit Teacher Created Materials'.

My students, on average, lose several months of learning over the summer. This loss affects all subjects, but especially reading. Without being able to read grade level text, my students will struggle in the other subjects that require that skill.
I am a third grade teacher at an urban school in Indiana. My school community is comprised of financially struggling families of all races, languages, and religions, and extremely hard-working teachers and staff. As a community we are trying to give all the students attending our school an opportunity for a better future.
We are asking for funding to purchase class sets of books that will help my students prepare for the third grade reading material. Not only will these books help my students regain what they've lost, but they will act as a supplement to our current reading book which does not have enough stories for the entire year.
By helping us purchase these engaging stories, you are giving my students a chance at a year full of success.
