Help me give my students enough outdoor equipment to stay active. During COVID, students were stuck at home and they need to move and learn how to play with each other again.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from a variety of experiences. These culturally diverse students are conscientious, respectful students who know what their responsibilities are and try their hardest to do their best. Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with all of our students receiving free breakfast and lunch. As a teacher in a low-income, high-poverty school district, I see how my students are confronted with many challenges and obstacles equally in and out of my classroom. For many of my students, they lack the experiences as well as materials they may need to succeed.
Help me give my students outdoor equipment to stay active.
My Project
Having various outdoor equipment will let my students practice their spatial awareness, hand and eye coordination, and gross motor skills all while having fun. Students will be able to practice their throwing, running, jumping, skipping, catching, and kicking skills. I can't imagine how much fun they will have exercising and learning how to be social with their classmates. Through play, they will also relieve some of the stress they may have due to things not being the same anymore. This variety of materials will have them learn new skills in the process.
