This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I clearly remember the excitement and anticipation as I waited for that sound to come from the record player instructing me to turn the page. A sound that most of my students have not experienced. Listing to books on CD is a fun activities that will help my students develop a love for books.
I am a teacher in a school that services students who come from low income working class families that live in or close to one of Los Angeles low income housing complexes.
My students are some of the most creative 1st graders you can ever meet. They are smart enthusiastic learners who enjoy learning and listening to stories read to them.
My Project
The items that I am requesting will greatly benefit my students with their reading fluency, and help them find their "reading voice." Most importantly your generosity will help my students enjoy their favorite stories on their own and help them gain the confidence they need to become independent, fluent readers, as well as help them to develop a love of books and reading that will follow them throughout their educational journey.
Your generosity will help twenty-one students this year and many, many more in the future.
The listening center books and Cd players will support students in developing a love of reading, and help them build their comprehension, sequencing, and retelling skills. Thank You!
