Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

My students are advanced learners in a Title One school that are in need of challenging lessons. By using games in the classroom, we can increase student participation, foster the social emotional learning piece, motivate students to be risk takers, increase language development and practice communication skills with team work.

Research shows that by playing educational games students develop non-cognitive skills that are fundamental to success like self-discipline, motivation, resilience, empathy, teamwork, communication, leadership, creativity, and emotional intelligence.

The games that I have chosen are games that were presented at our North Carolina Association for the Gifted and Talented Conference. They are games that have been used in various districts in the state with success. I have requested a storage cart to hold our games so that we will be able to keep all the pieces together.
