Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Five years ago, I started my Science teaching career with Dallas Independent School District at a low-income school, which had wonderful and outstanding students hungry to learn. I had to get my students engaged in my classroom. I jumped right in and immediately expanded my student science experiments to engage my students in my classroom. Science is fun when the kids are engaged in their learning. I want my students this year to be highly engaged in Science while igniting their curiosity and wonder. Engaged students that experience Science first hand in my labs, will be inspired to problem solve, collaborate, and explore many possibilities that are applicable to our world.
The education regarding the hands-on experiences has built my students' confidence and pride while learning in a progressive Science environment.
All of my students have shown incredible interest in veterinary medicine, science, and engineering.
My Project
My students loved to be involved in their learning. I have requested many things that will foster learning, teamwork, and confidence. For example, I am requesting the rope for tug of war sessions when we talk about forces. The project includes glow sticks to show the kids how chemical reactions are created.
The Elmo will allow me to project images up on the whiteboard to foster conversations, learning, and engagement through enhanced graphics.
These products will give my students a greater understanding of the world around them and to conceptualize these concepts in a real-world setting.
