My Students
My students are active, creative thinkers who are always excited to share their thoughts and ideas. I love hearing their perspective on what we are leaning in class and what is happening in their lives. I am grateful to be able to spend each day learning with these students.
Students benefit the most through interaction with others and being completed involved in the learning process.
In my classroom, I strive to create an environment where my students feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and opinions with their classmates. They learn how to express their learning process and gain knowledge through others. My students know that they are an important part of our classroom community.
My Project
Having these games and stem activities in the classroom will allow my students to be creative and express themselves through play and socialization. Throughout the day, we ask our students to follow many step-by-step instructions that require focus and memory. Through these constant expectations, I teach my students that their brain is a muscle that needs to be exercised. These games and stem toys will allow my students to be excited about learning and build their imagination. This will reflect in all of their school work, as they learn to think outside the box and problem solve in creative ways.
Games allow students to develop a variety of important skills including critical thinking skills, creativity, teamwork, and good sportsmanship.
As fourth graders, they are still learning how to work together and communicate with others. Games give students the opportunity to play fairy with classmates and respond appropriately when they disagree. The stem toys, such as the marble run and blocks, will allow students to use their creativity while sharing with others. Some may choose to just share the materials, while others choose to create something together. Either choice, they have to communicate with their classmates. This communication extends to class time while they work in groups, partners, and participate in class discussions.
Having a variety of options for students to use will get them excited about learning and socializing with their classmates. These games will be used through integration with instruction, indoor recess, free time and other reward opportunities.
I believe that play builds on an immeasurable amount of academic and social skills.
