As fourth graders, their work gets more challenging and they are in their seats more often. Flexible seating will allow my students to be comfortable as they learn. It is much harder for students to focus when they are sitting still for long periods of time. They cannot learn if they are not able to pay attention. I have had the opportunity to borrow some fidget bands and noise blocking headphones. It has had a huge positive impact for students who struggle to stay seated and on task. When students have the option to pick their seating, they are able to make choices that benefit their ability to learn. My students have the opportunity to work anywhere during independent and group work. Without flexible seating, most students end up working on the floor. Flexible seating is proven to bring higher academic success and less behavior issues. Having wobble seats, cushions, and balance balls will provide a comfortable place for students to accomplish their goals!
