My students are 6th grade writing, reading and history students in a public school in California. We have a range of students at all ability levels. They spend half of their school day in my classroom, integrating reading, writing, and history to build their academic skills.
These writing resources can make a world of difference in their development as writers.
All students need opportunities to develop their writing skills, and these materials will make all the difference in their motivation to write and boost their readiness for achieving state standards.
My Project
Our sixth graders work hard to progress in reading, writing and history. We engage them with hands-on learning to supplement each new unit with art and simulations to make the concepts come alive.
These materials and rewards will encourage them to give their best effort, supplement classroom activities and recognize them for their accomplishments.
Our classroom can use reward stickers for achievements, refills for their erasable pens, dot stickers for labeling books in our class library, gavels for our debates and persuasive writing, and prizes for the classroom prize jar. In history, we need plant trays to recreate the Nile River delta in our unit on ancient Egypt and name badges when we participate in our Walk Through Ancient History simulation.
We encourage each student to give their best effort and challenge themselves. These items will boost their effort and willingness to go above and beyond. We hope this project will contribute to their academic growth, confidence and lead to continued success.
