Help me give my students sight word readers to support our ability to practice and grow into independent readers. The sight word readers will provide the ultimate opportunity to promote confident and "ready" readers!
My kindergarten students are eager to become ready readers in the classroom. They have learned many reading strategies to practice on a daily basis. It is exciting to watch my students utilize these strategies and learn and grow from one another. Their learning environment is filled with opportunities for them to achieve curricular goals. I am so excited to possibly have the opportunity to incorporate mentor texts and leveled books into our reading workshop.
Every child in my classroom has the understanding and appreciation of the value of a book and how they can grow and learn from literature.
I love hearing my kindergarten students collaborate with each other as they communicate and retell their stories, practice strategies, and identify with story characters, and make text connections.
My Project
Kindergarten students are eager to learn to read. The strategies they learn are crucial to academic progress and success. They love practicing their strategies and need the books that are appropriate to their levels and abilities.
Sight word books provide these valuable opportunities for learning sight words as well as creating an environment of excitement and pride.
Immersing the students with the proper reading materials will create a purposeful and creative learning atmosphere. Brain research says we need 21 exposures to learn something and move it into long term storage and be able to recall the information. These books will allow the students to read and re-read to develop the vocabulary they need to move on to the next level of academic success.
