This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As our students begin to enter 6th grade, they have found ways to connect to the characters in their stories. Our students really love reading and enjoy reading about characters who showcase their struggles and triumphs. We have found amazing characters in our novels. Our students will instantly love these characters and be able to relate to many of their situations, even being science fiction.
Our students are great citizens and are in need of amazing books that help them build conversations around mental and emotional health, as well as dealing with losses.
Everyone is living with their own struggles, and our students are no exception. Many of our students have struggles most of us could not imagine! Having a relatable character, and seeing their struggles and triumphs while dealing with their struggles will allow our students to see people in a different light. Building that empathy is crucial if we’re going to have a future that accepts others for their differences.
