Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Last year, I taught seniors and sadly our school had 56% graduation rate. Some students come to my class with minimal note taking skills and other skills necessary for research. Many of them are visual and every step that we do for research needs to be on the board. If I could project some papers/books/notes as I teach, it would help many of them engage in the activities.
My students come from low-income households.
Most of them work after school to pay for their needs. I want my class to be more interactive and colorful and easy to follow as they take notes or present their projects.
My Project
Students will be writing their senior projects this year and write research papers for English 4. Most of my students come from low-income households and many of them work to buy their school supplies and needs. Every year, I buy notebooks and papers for my class. Hopefully, this year I can get some help.
Note taking skills and journal writing are key elements of their everyday learning in my class.
Writing helps them get their voice out and this year, we are doing argument writing. I need to make a lot of copies for my students because they need to highlight their support to create their arguments.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
