Celebrating Black History Month

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I work as a third-grade teacher in a Title I public school in a heart of Brooklyn, NY. I have a unique group of students, mainly from Haiti and Yemen. Some of my kids speak two or even three languages.

From experience, the students are hard-working and eager to learn.

I was their kindergarten teacher and have an amazing opportunity to welcome them back to my classroom this year.

I would love to see them grow and be successful in third grade.

My Project

I have been with my third graders since September, they have been working hard at home and in school. I try to focus on mental health and create a healthy classroom. I try to ease students' anxiety and frustration with difficult tasks. I have been sharing the school supplies that I have had in the classroom. However, I am running low. I am requesting pencils, crayons, markers, pencil boxes, and more. Some items that I requested will allow my students to have their personal tool kit that will help them explore their creativity. I want to provide a clean and safe learning environment for our students to support mental health. My students travel to other classes, giving them their own personal toolbox, will make their learning experiences easier and more fun! It will keep everyone safe and stay away from germs. Thank you!
