This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My 2nd grade students attend an inner city school in Los Angeles. They are from various backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses. Many of our students are English Language Learners (ELL) with roots in Latin America. The neighborhood is currently gentrifying, so we are developing a diverse population with many types of needs.
We are a STEM magnet that caters to unique and motivated students in Los Angeles.
They love to learn and constantly challenge me to meet their unique needs and ignite their passion for learning.
The school is 100 years old and we have multiple generations of students who have attended the school. Although the neighborhood is changing, many of the families remain the same.
My Project
My students need basic supplies for returning to school this fall. They will use caddies for organizing their materials. This will allow them to be ready to learn. They will able to locate pencils, crayons, markers and scissors easily. We would like the best pencils possible so that we do not waste time sharpening broken pencils or searching for a pencil. Students will use their All About Me posters to introduce themselves to their classmates. We will use Washi tape to personalize their supplies which will prevent loss. Students will use art trays to organize their projects.
My students will use their new school supplies to be ready to learn from the first day of school to the last.
