Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have 24, fabulous first-graders enrolled in my class this year. They are bright, kind, and hard-working students who are eager to learn! They come from loving families from many different cultures and economic backgrounds.
Although learning is a priority, funds for technology supports can be hard to come by.
We are a Title I school, which means that many students are at or below the poverty line. We provide free or reduced-price meals for students, now served remotely. I would love to be able to help my students feel more connected and prepared to participate in their online learning.
My Project
Remote learning can be such a challenge for little learners. Parents and siblings are working and learning from home. Many students struggle with video conferencing with so many distractions at home, so having headphones with microphones will help cut out background noises during our instructional time and help my students better communicate with me and their classmates. The styluses will serve as digital pencils that can be used on their devices to practice their printing and complete their online assignments.
Although they are eager to learn, most of my students do not have access to these digital supports to help make their distance learning experience more successful.
I believe these digital tools will be just what we need to enhance the online experience for my fabulous first graders!
