This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
A typical day in my classroom starts with a silent reading activity. My students love to read and take A.R. test daily. They strive to get the most points in the classroom. By the end of the school year, I want every single student in my classroom to want to read a book for pleasure.
I have 27 students who are enthusiastic and fun.
They love to help one another. My school is your average school in need, we have limited resources, and as a new teacher I have limited funding. I have a small library and every book that is added to my library is a personal purchase made by me.
My Project
My students will be able to use these books and align them with the new common core standards that will be addressed in the classroom. My library will be a bit fuller giving the students a chance to increase their reading abilities. It will also give many of them a wide range of books to choose from so that they can also participate in taking accelerated reader quizzes and tests.
My project will make a difference in every single student's life.
They will be exposed to books that they will enjoy reading. Reading in turn changes students lives for the better because without reading life will be incredibly hard. They are only in 3rd grade, which is one of the important first years in reading and figuring out how much fun reading can be. They will also learn to apply what they learn in class to their daily life experiences.
