My Students

Students in our room are kind and helpful to each other! Few students come from households with more than one parent, while most come from single-parent homes, where it is a struggle to make ends meet. Most of my students are from such low-income households that they receive free or reduced-price lunches, and many visit the food banks regularly, in addition to needing help from the clothing banks. Parents that are involved with their children are truly doing all they can for their child and want access to and help with all things pertaining to their child's education.

I am blessed this year by students and parents who want to work cooperatively to ensure each child has the best learning experience, with opportunities to grow, learn, and lead!

These students are hard working, loving, and excited about learning! I am working hard to instill in them my love of reading and it is a treat when they clap enthusiastically to show approval of a new book. They are truly captivated by rich literature, they love making connections, and they are diligent about reading in our classroom. I love teaching these kids!

My Project

Students are so engaged with the quality of Scholastic products and having our own Scholastic NEWS each week only enhances my teaching in the areas of Science and Social Studies. This magazine makes learning fun for all students and allows me the opportunity to sneak in some remediation for struggling readers. The best part?

Students are EXCITED to read the magazines and give their best efforts as we learn about our world each week!

This magazine allows me to share with them information about our world I wouldn't otherwise have access to with our standard curriculum. My hope is to have each student keep a personal copy of the magazine in the beautiful chair pockets we're asking for, as well, ensuring students take ownership and responsibility of our materials.
