Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The magic in kindergarten happens from day one! First weeks of school is all about learning routings and setting up a consistent and strong foundation for the rest of the school year.

This includes setting up for readers and writers workshop together, and then, students get to practice what they are learning independently, so I can work with small group of students to best meet their academic needs.

This is where most of the magic happens, students get a mini lesson with me and then, they get to practice what they learning with the right tools. By having a magazine holders for each student, it was allow students to select books that they want to read over and over in their book bin as well as their writing folders, reading logs, pencil pouch and more. By having each student take ownership of their learning and materials, it allows me to differentiate instructions to meet students where they are academically and socially. I teacher two group of students, so the library packets will be attach to their reading tubs along with their name, reading level information, their reading goal and more.

When checking with individual students, I can track and see what they are working on and can add additional materials that will support their learning such as pointers, a small bag with sight words, and much more.

By having materials organized and individualized in our classroom, it will provide a better learning environment and plenty of opportunities for students to become independent learners! Please, help us keep the magic going in kindergarten!
