Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach an incredible group of 9th and 12th-grade students in a Title I school. Despite facing challenges like family responsibilities, group home transitions, and extracurricular commitments, my students show up every day with determination, curiosity, and passion for learning. They are eager to engage with literature, share their perspectives, and prepare for bright futures. To support their growth, I’m requesting resources to enhance our classroom environment and empower their learning. High-interest, diverse books will connect students with new ideas and cultures, encouraging empathy and critical thinking. Cleaning wipes and band-aids will keep our classroom safe and healthy. Fluorescent light covers will create a calming atmosphere, while a classroom printer will bring student work to life through printed essays, projects, and handouts. Finally, coloring utensils, glue, and construction paper will make learning hands-on and engaging through creative activities like posters and visual aids.

My goal is to create a safe, inspiring space where my students feel valued and supported.

These resources will allow them to express their creativity, collaborate meaningfully, and take ownership of their learning. My 9th graders are discovering their voices, and my 12th graders are preparing for the next chapter of their lives. Their resilience, creativity, and eagerness to grow make them truly inspiring.
