This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My prekindergarten students receive free lunch and are from homes with tablets and smartphone access. But, without printers to see the pictures they take come to life.
My students love to take pictures.
They take pictures in all areas of the classroom. Choice time is the part of our day when they choose what area they would like to work in. Some choose to work in the dramatic play area and use things to pretend to take pictures and others choose the toys and games area to make phones and tablets with legos, and pretend to take pictures of things around the room. They also use the tablets to take pictures. I have noticed that more students would like to work with the tablets from the technology area to take pictures of their friends and their projects. We need another tablet, a color printer and ink to allow children to take pictures of their work and print them out. I am asking Donors to Choose to help them accomplish this task. My students make choices and are learning to work as a team. My students are going to be lifelong learners with experiences beginning with those in Pre-K.
My Project
The tablet and printer will allow my students to take pictures of each other working and print out the pictures to show others their work and see themselves working. The new curriculum we are using calls for pictures of them and things to be taken. My students will learn how to use the tablet to take pictures of worthy projects or parts of our day. Each child will benefit from using the materials and being photographed by myself and each other. These materials will also create two new jobs for my students, the picture captain and the guard of the printer.
