Our school focuses on educating our students mentally AND physically. We specialize in physical education and character education to help our students be well rounded members of society.
I teach my students to care about their mind, health, future, while having self respect for themselves, knowing that they will accomplish hard things.
With the schools' support on physical and character education, we become very active with our lessons. I love having the opportunity to pull my students outside and let them reenact a battle from the Revolutionary and Civil War to help them visualize their own understanding.
Kids need to walk away from their classroom not only learning something new, but also knowing that they can make a difference in the world.
My Project
Hands on, experiential learning is key to developing young minds. Most importantly, we want to increase student engagement in the classroom setting. Through the use of the Amazon Fire tablets in the school, students can be exposed to new technology that they may not have had the chance to experience before.
This technology for us means more interest in learning and greater student engagement in the classroom.
It will greatly benefit us in science and social studies as students can have the opportunity to use the tablets in the classroom to have a hands-on learning experience and extend their knowledge. The students will be able to track different data, look up information, and extend their knowledge beyond the walls of the classroom. The data they collect will contribute to the learning that is taking place in the classroom.
Students will also be able to use the internet to have access to various social studies sites and apps. The apps will get the students excited about social studies as they can read about exciting parts of history. What better way to get students enthusiastic about learning than provide an exciting, hands-on experience for them right in their own classroom?
