My Students
This year I have 15 boys and 8 girls in my class. My students are enthusiastic, caring, sweet little first grade bundles of energy. I adore them! They love to learn new things and are quick learners!
Our learning centers on hands-on, real world learning experiences that foster active engagement.
We love learning about science and social studies topics through our reading and writing and apply our skills in observation and experimentation. Our favorite subject is mathematics! We love challenging ourselves to become better problem solvers and experts at mental math.
My Project
One of the resources I'm hoping for is a book display stand. In it I will put seasonal, decodable, scientific, and other types of books from our school or classroom library from which the students may select.
The books in the display stand will be used during centers time to support core instruction goals in all areas, such as learning about the seasons, patriotic holidays, and addition.
The dry erase boards will be used to practice handwriting (on side one) and to elicit higher levels of student engagement during lessons (on side two, which is blank). Rather than having students raise their hands to answer questions, individual dry erase boards can help me in getting responses from all students instead of just one.
The use of both resources will result in higher student engagement in my classroom.
