This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are always happy to be at school and eager to learn! This is my sixth year teaching kindergarten at my school. I work at a Title I school in an urban environment. In my school, 100% of our students receive free or reduced priced lunch.
These students are smart students and very capable of succeeding when given the proper tools.
We use a lot of music and technology throughout lessons since my students are growing up around technology. We are constantly moving using music and dance. My goal is to make learning fun for my students.
My Project
In kindergarten, most of my instructional time is spent in small groups. I am asking for a few materials for both my math and reading small groups. A tabletop easel would make my small groups run much more effectively. Instead of using a small, mini dry-erase board, the students could use this big one to manipulate magnetic letters, as well as write on the dry erase board part of the easel. This easel also has a storage component, which will help keep track of the materials for each of my groups.
These materials will make my small group time run more efficiently.
We are working on reading, writing, and learning CVC words. With the twist and turn word builders, they will be able to build, read, and write many words on their own.The ten frame dry erase boards and the number bond dry erase boards will help our number sense. All of these are skills that we work on in kindergarten.
