Raise your hand if you enjoy sitting in an uncomfortable chair or on the floor when reading? No? Neither do my students! In my classroom, students find their love for reading by curling up in a comfortable place with a fascinating book!
My students are great kids who love to learn about new things and discover new places.
My students do not have the money to travel but they can go on different adventures each time they read a book! Our school is Title 1, which means most of the students are on free, or reduced lunch. They may not have much material wise, but they can gain everything through the joy of reading!
I am requesting a rug so my students can sit comfortably on the floor during story time and mini-lessons. With a large enough rug my students will be able to each have an area of the rug to sit on comfortably so they can enjoy whatever activity we are doing. We incorporate interactive reading lessons into our curriculum which means students are interacting with the story for better comprehension. With a large enough rug students can do this without interfering in another classmates personal space.
My project is important to me because I want my students to have everything.
I want them to be proud of the atmosphere they are learning in and to feel safe and comfortable. I want to be able to have my students close while I capture their imaginations through a great book. This donation will help make a difference by giving my students something to enjoy while reading and will help take the burden off of my school, which does not have the funds to give every classroom the same materials.
