My Students

Have you ever been so captivated by a book that you couldn't put it down? My students have built such a strong love of learning/reading that they can't put their books down. The problem comes from the fact that the students don't have a spot to house their books between activities.

The students in my class are smart, talented, and have a strong desire to learn.

The students come from diverse learning communities. The students come with many different experiences with reading. I have some students that are reading on a kindergarten level and students that are reading on a 5th grade level all in the same room. Our classroom is a community of learners. We care about each other and care about becoming life long readers.

My Project

It might sound like a small thing, but think about your favorite book. Think about how you could not put it down and doing anything other than reading was draining. I see my students drifting into far off places within their books. But because we sit at community tables, they do not have a storage location for their books. Having book bins at their table will allow my students to have their amazing reading adventures at an arms reach.

The greatest gift I could give my students is a love of reading.

If I provide them with a strong love of reading and the fundamentals of learning, they will soar in life. I ask that you help keep reading within reach for my amazing students.
