Reading With Rigor and Interest

My students need a library that will be filled with grade level appropriate books that get them excited about reading!

My Students

Over 70% of my students come from a low-income background in Atlanta, Georgia. Despite not having access to many resources, I have learned that students still come to school with a genuine eagerness to learn despite their background.

My 4th-grade students attend a Title 1 school and work hard every day to succeed.

They are motivated and smart individuals who push themselves way beyond what anyone would think! Brillant, talented, and focused are words that come to mind when I think of them!

My Project

This library will mean so much to my 4th graders because they will have new books that they can get excited about reading. In education, you will find that students are hesitant to engage in reading due to a lack of interest in the literature that is available to them. I believe that having a library of new books will entice my students to read more. The library will provide 52 books of various levels and interest to meet the needs of all of my students.

I actually remember when I read the same-titled books in 4th grade and how they impacted me-so I know how much they will also impact my students.

Reading literature at the elementary level is a journey that creates memories that last forever. I want this library to be a part of those memories of my students.
